Finding the perfect hairstyle to compliment your wedding dress

Choosing your perfect bridal hairstyle can be difficult, it's hard to find the right balance when there are so many different things to take into consideration. One of these things is the style of dress you will be wearing, it is important that your dress and hairstyle compliment each other and not take anything away from the other.

So here are a few examples of how to compliment a few wedding dress styles with your hairstyle...

1. High Neck

For dresses with a high neckline it is best to wear a sleek updo with all your hair off your face. A classic ballerina bun will look absolutely gorgeous.

2. Halter Neck

For dresses with a halter neckline it is better to go for an updo with volume on top and a few loose curls at the front to soften the face. A relaxed french twist with some height on top will look stunning.

3. Boho or Grecian

As this style is so relaxed it is better to avoid very structured hairstlyes and go for something quite relaxed. A half up, half down style will give the perfect balance and for that extra bohemian touch you can always add some fresh flowers.

4. Square neck line with cap sleeves

Most loose updos will look amazing with this style but my personal favourite is a loose low style with some plaits incorporated to add a little more texture and detail.

5. Big and Blousy

A structured style can work really well with this style but there is a very fine line between elegant and frumpy. A cute curly mock bob worn to the side will add a little glamour to this style while keeping it young and playful.

6. Asymmetrical

This is one of the best styles to show off your gorgeous shoulders without showing too much skin and it looks amazing with a style that offers volume on the top and pulls the hair off the shoulders. A big and bouncy pony will look gorgeous with this style.

7. V neck with long sleeves

This is my favourite style of wedding dress as it is very glamorous and sexy but oozes class and sophistication at the same time. A dress like this creates a statement and deserves a statement hairstyle so what is better than a bouncy retro blow dry.

8. Strapless

Strapless dresses are probably the most popular of all the wedding dress styles and as they offer a very simple neck line almost any hairstyle will add to the beauty of this dress without taking anything away. My personal favourite (and a very popular hairstyle for my clients) would be a beautiful side chignon.

9. Boat neck

When I think of a boat neck I automatically think of Audrey Hepburn at 'that dress' from Breakfast at Tiffany's. It is a very simple but beautiful style and I can't think of a more appropriate style than an elegant wavy side pony decorated with jewelled embellishments.

I would love to see what hairstyle you decided on to compliment your wedding dress, so if you want to show your wedding pictures off to the world please feel free to post in the comments.
